Surah Al-Ghashiya ( The Overwhelming ) - Aya count 26
هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ ٱلۡغَٰشِيَةِ ﰀ ﴿١﴾
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)?
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٍ خَٰشِعَةٌ ﰁ ﴿٢﴾
Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated,
عَامِلَةٞ نَّاصِبَةٞ ﰂ ﴿٣﴾
Labouring (hard), weary,-
تَصۡلَىٰ نَارًا حَامِيَةٗ ﰃ ﴿٤﴾
The while they enter the Blazing Fire,-
تُسۡقَىٰ مِنۡ عَيۡنٍ ءَانِيَةٖ ﰄ ﴿٥﴾
The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring,
لَّيۡسَ لَهُمۡ طَعَامٌ إِلَّا مِن ضَرِيعٖ ﰅ ﴿٦﴾
No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari'
لَّا يُسۡمِنُ وَلَا يُغۡنِي مِن جُوعٖ ﰆ ﴿٧﴾
Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger.
وُجُوهٞ يَوۡمَئِذٖ نَّاعِمَةٞ ﰇ ﴿٨﴾
(Other) faces that Day will be joyful,
لِّسَعۡيِهَا رَاضِيَةٞ ﰈ ﴿٩﴾
Pleased with their striving,-
فِي جَنَّةٍ عَالِيَةٖ ﰉ ﴿١٠﴾
لَّا تَسۡمَعُ فِيهَا لَٰغِيَةٗ ﰊ ﴿١١﴾
Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity:
فِيهَا عَيۡنٞ جَارِيَةٞ ﰋ ﴿١٢﴾
Therein will be a bubbling spring:
فِيهَا سُرُرٞ مَّرۡفُوعَةٞ ﰌ ﴿١٣﴾
Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high,
وَأَكۡوَابٞ مَّوۡضُوعَةٞ ﰍ ﴿١٤﴾
وَنَمَارِقُ مَصۡفُوفَةٞ ﰎ ﴿١٥﴾
And cushions set in rows,
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبۡثُوثَةٌ ﰏ ﴿١٦﴾
And rich carpets (all) spread out.
أَفَلَا يَنظُرُونَ إِلَى ٱلۡإِبِلِ كَيۡفَ خُلِقَتۡ ﰐ ﴿١٧﴾
Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?-
وَإِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ كَيۡفَ رُفِعَتۡ ﰑ ﴿١٨﴾
And at the Sky, how it is raised high?-
وَإِلَى ٱلۡجِبَالِ كَيۡفَ نُصِبَتۡ ﰒ ﴿١٩﴾
And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?-
وَإِلَى ٱلۡأَرۡضِ كَيۡفَ سُطِحَتۡ ﰓ ﴿٢٠﴾
And at the Earth, how it is spread out?
فَذَكِّرۡ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُذَكِّرٞ ﰔ ﴿٢١﴾
Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish.
لَّسۡتَ عَلَيۡهِم بِمُصَيۡطِرٍ ﰕ ﴿٢٢﴾
Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs.
إِلَّا مَن تَوَلَّىٰ وَكَفَرَ ﰖ ﴿٢٣﴾
But if any turn away and reject Allah,-
فَيُعَذِّبُهُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡعَذَابَ ٱلۡأَكۡبَرَ ﰗ ﴿٢٤﴾
Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment,
إِنَّ إِلَيۡنَآ إِيَابَهُمۡ ﰘ ﴿٢٥﴾
For to Us will be their return;
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَيۡنَا حِسَابَهُم ﰙ ﴿٢٦﴾
Then it will be for Us to call them to account.
